Mom bans 16-year-old daughter from spring break trip with her 17 and 18-year-old friends: 'She's convinced the internet will be on her side'

Sending a 16-year-old on spring break is just asking for trouble! At that age, you can't rent a hotel room or a car for yourself, and if you get into trouble, you'll need Mom and Dad to come pick you up. You tend to do whatever your friends do, and depending on your group of friends, that could totally spell out trouble. 

This Mom is unsure if she should let her 16-year-old go on a spring break trip with a few 17 and 18-year-olds. She insists that she's already said no to her daughter, but the kid claims that the internet will take her side. Well… you'll have to keep scrolling to see how that's going for her.

    I (40f) have a 16-year-old daughter who wants to go on a spring break trip with 3 of her friends, 2 18-year-olds and 1 17 year old. it's roughly a 12 Hour Drive and there would be no adult supervision going with them. I

    There are plenty of examples that this mom could show her daughter... not that her daughter would necessarily feel better about the decision

    A. NTA Big Nope. When she is 18 she can go, or at least it's a discussion to have. Sit her down to watch a Natalie Holloway documentary. Just no. It's not about her and you should tell her that. There are just so many human that don't care about destroying lives out there.

    Part of being a parent is just doing what you have to do, even if your kid really dislikes it. That's why you tell them, "You'll understand when you're older!"

    No_Mention_1760 A parent here who raised a child into adulthood. NTA! All their whining and protestations aside, 16 year olds are not mature enough to be off without adult supervision. Case closed.
